ANGRY OR HUNGRY

Have you ever been angry with God?  I know I have.  This is extremely hard to admit.  As Christians we believe that we should always have faith in knowing that God has plan and He knows best.  I believe this deep in my soul, but if I am being honest sometimes it makes me really mad!!!

Guess what?  It’s okay to be mad.  Anger is a normal human emotion and God created us to be emotional creatures.  Even Jesus got angry sometimes.

God desires for us to be in relationship with him and the nature of relationships involve all human emotions.  I am guessing you can name several instances when you were angry with your spouse, your kid, your parent, your friend, your coworker, etc. But here is what I have discovered.  When I am feeling angry with God, what I am really feeling is hungry.  I am hungry (starving) to hear his voice, to feel his presence and to receive his guidance.

If you have ever whispered countless prayers for a resolution, a healing, or an answer, than you know the feeling of hunger pangs in your heart.  The silence feels like rejection.

I have learned to take this conversation straight to God, much like Job.  I have questioned, much like Job.  I have tried to shut up and listen, much like Job.  I have pleaded my case, much like Job.

I have re-read the book of Job and through that heard God say to me, “I have got this.  I have got you.  I am the master of the universe and I kinda know what I am doing.  I do not owe you an explanation.  I do not owe you an answer.  You are just going to have to trust in me”.

And for that I am grateful.  I am grateful that I do not have to be the master of the universe with all of the answers because I am 100 percent confident, I would mess that up.  I can let go and let God.  So, the next time you are feeling angry (probably hungry), do yourself a favor and grab a coffee and have a chat with God.
